Countless reasons to live

Cancer Patients` Association of Slovenia wished for its 25th anniversary something special, something different, and something positive for this time of world’s crisis. Association`s jubilee year also coincided with the European Year of Volunteering. In 2011, the association in addition to regular annual programs, wanted to arrange something special for patients, something that in its 25-years of existence was never done before. They wished to initiate public encouragement and positive identifications, to show patients that they are not alone and that there are people, who want to help them. People who want to return them the desire for life, which they lost in the moment they met with cancer.

In collaboration with the Cancer Patients` Association of Slovenia we designed a communication campaign called “Countless reasons to live”. Its concept was designed as a dialogue between patients and everyone, who decided to help them. It was a generator of positive messages saying that the positive energy of many people can be a strong support for oncology patients. The campaign told patients, that they are not alone, but they have support by both the association (volunteers, professionals and self-help groups) and by all the others, who want to help them with emotional support and money donations. The basic message of the campaign consisted of the question »Why?« and the answer (because I have) »Countless reasons to live«. The campaign reinforced the awareness of the value of life and encouraged perseverance in all life stages. All communication elements were inviting people to visit the website of the campaign www.nestetorazlogov.si where individuals could contribute one of their countless reasons to live, read other reasons and see the photo gallery and videos of recognized artists.
